  1. Magnus, what's the latest on OH DE Chris Wormley? From what I can gather, he came into the summer almost a Michigan lock without even having heard from them, and now he's got tOSU at number 1. I know we haven't been in contact with him, when do you think they'll get in touch and extend a verbal offer?

  2. @ Anonymous

I think Michigan will get in touch and extend a verbal offer as soon as they're allowed. OSU likely hasn't been following the contact rules, and this isn't the first time that's happened. Regardless, Michigan's need at DE isn't extremely signifcant, so I'm not too concerned about Wormley's lack of attention. The Wolverines have Lalota, Black, Wilkins, and Paskorz to play DE once Van Bergen graduates. Wormley would be a nice addition, but he's not a huge NEED.

  3. Has MIchigan not offered the Pike kid out of Kentucky? Mauk? I'm surprised not to see more QB offers out there. Think this is a conscious strategy to target guys that are deemed 'getable'? This in contrast to RR's strategy of dropping offer letters out of cargo planes and carpet bombing the earth?

  4. Given the need for like 5 OL in the '12 class, shouldn't there be more offers out?

  5. @ Lankownia

I think Hoke is going to be more conservative about how many offers to put out there. That being said, I'm sure Pike WILL get an offer, but I haven't heard that he's been offered yet. I'm not sure about Mauk.

There probably are more offers out there right now for OL, but with the 2011 class just signing, nobody's really been concentrating on 2012 kids. That's why I asked people on the front page to let me know if there are offered players I'm missing. I'm trying to catch up.

  6. Makes sense, I'm just starting to learn some of the names, so a post like this is interesting.

  7. Pike has an offer (he said as much in an interview on Scout), and so does FL RB Matt Jones. Of course, neither are coming here, but still.

I'm assuming you're referring to the comment up above, but please notice that the comment is from August 24, 2010. That was before Lalota announced that he would be transferring.

Fixed. Thanks for pointing it out. Sometimes when I move people around (from WR to CB, or OT to OG, stuff like that), I forget to change the numbers.

  10. What's the timeline for an offer (if there is one) in your opinion, for Allen Gant?

    ReplyDelete
  11. @ AYSV Valet 11:33 a.m.

Based on his film, I don't think Allen Gant will receive an offer before December/January, if at all. He could earn one at summar camp or with his senior film, but there are much better players out there and he doesn't play a position of great need.

  12. If they can get the kid from New Jersey, aka Denard #2....that would be great. The key is that Denard does well in Hokes/Borgess offense this year to lure him as the next Denard...This year and next are probably the biggest two years in Michigan football history. If they do well they will get great players..Sam Sword, Woodson, Foote, Woodley, ect.ect.. If not, well they are sunk.

  13. Check out the QB at Pali High in California. He has a cannon. #11 Nathan Dodson

  14. With Tuerk to USC (along with Armistead), think that helps us with some of the west-coast OTs: Murphy or Magnuson maybe even Banner?

  15. What are your thoughts on Eric Olsen who is supposed to visit Michigan pretty soon? His offer list is not something that jumps off the page, but I heard the coaches have seen him inperson. I thought of him as a stretch at first based on his offers, but I'm starting to think he might be good. Thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  16. @ Anonymous 7:55 p.m.

I'm not too impressed with Olson. He doesn't have very good balance, crosses up his feet, plays high, reaches too much, doesn't move his feet well enough, etc. I see him more as a guard than a tackle, because I think he would be a liability in pass protection. He's not bad at in-line blocking but good pass rushers are going to cause him trouble.

  17. Why are there no numeric ratings on the WR who committed to Michigan?

    ReplyDelete
  18. @ Anonymous 8:01 a.m.

That was an oversight on my part. It's now corrected.

  19. Can I make a request? For our commits instead of a link to a youtube video, where available, I wouldn't mind having a link to your original write-up about their commitment and your evaluation of them.
