Preview: Michigan vs. San Diego State

Aztec girls sure do know their football

I didn't/don't/won't have time for a full preview this week, so here's the shortened version:

Predictions

  • SDSU running back Ronnie Hillman rushes for 120 yards and 2 touchdowns
  • SDSU quarterback Ryan Lindley misses his starting receivers and throws 3 picks
  • Denard Robinson shows Kyle Turley why Michigan is a better job than San Diego State
  • Junior Hemingway has a big day with 130 yards and 2 touchdowns
  • Michigan 42, San Diego State 31
And here's a look back at the best player to come out of SDSU:

  1. I predict we see a fast start this week. We see the DL consistently making plays in the first half. With Roh, C. Gordon, T. Gordon, Kovacs, and Marting all in, the D has their best week so far. I think they hold Hillman to right around 100, leading to the picks you predicted. But Denard throws 2 picks himself. I agree with your score prediction.

  2. A short preview is better than no preview. Overall, I agree, especially with bullet number 3. I hope you are right about Hemingway; he deserves to have a big day.

  3. Michigan 42 - SDSU 24

Denard starts off slow, again, and SDSU jumps out to an early 10-0 lead in the first. We almost break our pattern of not scoring in the first, as we have a 1st and goal as the 1st quarter expires. We battle back quickly to close off the half at 14-17 their lead.

We make the appropriate adjustments at halftime, as we're supposed to, and come back with fire to end the game 42-24.

Smith and Toussaint combine for 200 yards on the ground.

Denard passes for 200, runs for another 100 on ~15 carries.

Devin Gardner still isn't getting any meaningful snaps.

Avery and Woolfolk each pick up an INT.

A Ronnie Hillman fumble is a big turning point in the game.

Our D-Line combines for 4 sacks on the day.

Check back in with me on Sunday... I don't own a time machine, I just receive messages from the future.

  4. It's preview enough. I think it'll be a little closer and don't think we'll get 3 INTs, but I could see 2 turnovers from SDSU falling into our hands.

I think SDSU will take a two score lead in the 1st half, but the team will rally in the 2nd.

And you know, if they don't...it's not the end of the world. There is less riding on this game than any game I can remember in the last couple of seasons. If we have to lose one game, this is the one I'd pick.
